Love that on my iPad, I can easily play chords on the Smart Keyboard of GarageBand (since I don't know how to play chords otherwise), but I don't know how to get the Smart Keyboard on my Macbook Air - specifically, can someone tell me how to get the smart piano keyboard on my Air? The first thing you should check out in the Logic Remote app is the control bar at the top of the interface. The center display shows the playhead location, the track name, and the track number. You can navigate through the track list with the arrows on either side of the display.
Tap the view icon to navigate to different views, including the touch instruments, mixer, smart help, and key commands. The View menu is dynamic and gives you options based on the selected track.
Tap the library icon to open the patch library. From the Patch Library menu, you can access your entire Logic Pro library and choose new patches for the currently selected track. Logic Remote does its best to recognize the instrument you load and give you the right tools for the job. If the high-quality instrument you have in mind is your own singing voice, connect a microphone (in lieu of the Mac’s built-in microphone) to an audio input port on the computer.
Open System Preferences, click Sound, click Input, and then select Line In. Drag the Input volume slider to an appropriate level. Choose Vocals and the instrument that most closely matches your singing style, such as Epic Diva, Helium Breath, or Megaphone. Garage Band will tailor the effects to your voice.
Don’t worry if you don’t know how to characterize your singing voice; one of your other options is No Effects.

Good microphones are also useful when you’re recording podcasts. If you choose to use a microphone not for singing but for recording your speaking voice, set the option to No Effects (unless you’re going for a comedic effect).
